Magnolia Students Participate in STEM Activity

On Saturday September 28th, approximately 140 students from the Magnolia School District attended a free STEM event held at the Muzeo in Anaheim. The event was put on by Andrew Needles, the CEO of Clarkson Technologies. Younger students had fun learning about polarity in batteries as they raced toy cars using magnets to propel them.

Anaheim Rotary Donates Backpacks Filled with School Supplies

Thanks to the generosity of the Anaheim Rotary Club, 308 Magnolia students will receive brand new backpacks filled with plenty of school supplies. Rotary members and Magnolia staff members delivered the backpacks to the District on Thursday, August 28th and several students and families were present to receive their backpacks. The remaining backpacks will be delivered to students across the District.

Six Magnolia School District Schools Were Named 2018-19 California Honor Roll

Magnolia School District is proud to announce that Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Dr. Peter Marshall, Dr. Jonas Salk, Juliette Low School of the Arts, Robert M. Pyles STEM Academy and Walt Disney schools were named as 2018-19 California Honor Roll schools by Educational Results Partnership, a data science organization which recognizes high-performing, achievement gap-closing schools across the state.

Pennies for Patients Drive Sets Records at Dr. Peter Marshall

Students at Dr. Peter Marshall Elementary School raised $8,274.31 for the Pennies for Patients and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The mission of Pennies for Patients is to find a cure for blood cancers! The fundraiser was led by Dr. Peter Marshall’s Student Council, composed of fourth through sixth-grade students. Student Council Advisor Mr. Hector Loya, a fourth-grade Dual Immersion teacher, led this fantastic event.

25th Annual Dental Clinic and Community Health Fair

Saturday, February 23, 2019 marked the 25th anniversary of the Magnolia School District Dental Clinic and Community Health Fair. Dr. Jonas Salk Elementary School MPR was transformed into a Dentist’s office and the courtyard was turned into a community health fair. Students and their families from all across the district were invited to attend.

Students Participate in Annual Spelling Bee

The 2019 Magnolia School District Spelling Bee was a memorable one! The rain may have delayed the Bee, but it certainly did not stop it. The two top spellers from each of our 9 schools participated in the very intense competition. Students successfully spelled words such as extravaganza, gregarious, capricious and cauliflower.

Students Attend Saturday School Session

On Saturday, December 8, almost 350 fourth through sixth grade students attended a four hour Saturday School session. Offered for the first time in Magnolia School District, this four hour session was designed to provide students with fun, engaging learning activities while making up some lost learning time from being absent.

Magnolia School District’s Dual Immersion Program Continues to Expand

In a few short years, Magnolia’s Spanish Dual Immersion program has grown from just 55 students to almost 380. The program began in 2012 with just two kindergarten classes and now it has expanded to all grade levels through 6th grade.

Magnolia has implemented the 90/10 model of instruction which means that in kindergarten the instruction is received 90% in Spanish and 10% in English. English instruction increases by 10% each year so by fourth grade, the instruction is presented 50% in each language.
